Item details

These are beautiful purple Kazuri beads. The measurement is approximate 22 mm for the pita pat beads and 10 mm for the shale. The beads have a beautiful glaze finish. These are extras from previous jewelry projects.

The beads can be used for any type of jewelry idea you desire.

Kazuri beads are handmade beads formed with clay from Mt. Kenya. Kazuri, the Swahili word for "small and beautiful", offers a wide range of ceramic beads. Each bead is fashioned and fire glazed by women who in most cases are the only supporter for the family. In 1975 Lady Susan Wood sought to improve the lives of women. She began with two women, a table, and in her garden the bead-making process of the Kikuyu tribe was reborn. The company today is located outside of Nairobi, Kenya. It employs approximately 300 women paying them more than three times the national wage while also providing healthcare and daycare.

Kazuri still maintains the colors of Africa and Kenyan art. Kazuri is a Fair Trade member. Your Kazuri purchases will continue the economic support for these women.

Average review
I am really pleased with my purchase and recommend Theresa's shop for unique beads and great service. The Kazuri beads were exactly as stated. Thanks. I will probably be shopping here again.
