This pattern contains the all the full size pattern pieces to make an 18"x18" quilt of a Blue Merle Shetland Sheepdog. It uses the raw edge applique technique.
I created this pattern from my friend Heidi's photograph of her dog Ice. I tape the photo to a window and trace it's features. I then make puzzle pieces out of fabric to realistically duplicate him as a quilt. This has been a fascinating process for me to create original quilted wall hangings from cherished photos of beloved pets.
Ice is a talented Blue Merle Shetland Sheepdog. Twice he made the USA World agility team. There is nothing he loves more than to compete with a captivated audience watching his every move. He is an amazing site to see during an agility trial! I am pleased to honor him with a lasting quilt.
The 18"x18" quilt pattern has many options: 1. Make it a NO-SEW project with heavy-duty fusible webbing and frame it. 2. Add backing and batting to use it as a quilted wall hanging. 3. Just topstitch the raw edges, pillowcase a backing, and make a throw pillow for your living room couch.
Have fun putting your own signature idea on this original project!
