Item details

Here is a lovely patchwork quilt top. It is made of small squares in blues, ivory, white, tan, red, pink and more. Great striped fabrics separate the blocks.

64 inches x 81 inches (a little bit bigger than a queen size quilt)
the smallest squares are 2 1/2 inches (they vary slightly) The 9 blocks together make a 7 inch square

The 9 squares in a block - these blocks are separated by stripes of light plaid fabric and rectangles of blue in some places.

This was probably made during the depression, The fabrics seem like 1930s 1940s calico patterns and stripes. Many different fabrics make ups this quilt - gingham, stripes, polka dots, floral, unique designs.

There are a few stains. Please look carefully at the photos. This is a great piece for pillows, a table runner or wall hanging or a finished quilt ( just needs backing and batting and to be quilted). Beautiful calico fabrics, plaids, polka dots, floral and checked - all cotton fabrics.

Through the years, quilts have become documents of history. They are the products of society, influenced by culture, and the environment of the people who made them. The history of America can be seen in the history of quilts. Stitched into these quilts is the rich heritage of thrifty self-sufficient women who helped homestead the land, the history of families sewn into quilts one patch or one stitch at a time, and the legacy of the art of quilting, passed on from generation to generation.
