I designed this elegant shawl in collaboration with Beloved Yarn, a small company based in Oahu, Hawaii. Inspired by the ocean and marble stone, Daien lovingly hand-dyed the yarn for this project, bringing both of our visions to life. This piece is a truly beautiful representation of the work of two separate artists. There are so many beautiful knit shawls out there, I wanted to mimic that style for those who only know how to crochet.
This shawl is so lightweight and comfortable that you will never want to take it off! It is perfect worn as a wrap, a cardigan, a blanket scarf, a hood, or however else you want to style it! It's also very breathable, making it cool enough to wear in the spring and summer. The finished and blocked shawl is triangular and measures approximately 67" at its longest point and 26" at its deepest point. One size fits most adults.
To create the Chesapeake Shawl, you will need 2 skeins (approximately 872 yards) of fingering weight yarn (2). I highly recommend Grace Fingering from Beloved Yarn for this project! I used the Three Sisters colorway. You can purchase this yarn at her website, https://www.belovedyarn.com. You will need a 3.5mm crochet hook (size E), scissors, and a yarn needle. You will also need to know how to chain, double crochet, and slip stitch. I'll teach you everything else! I recommend this pattern for adventurous beginners to intermediate crocheters. This 13-page pattern features helpful photo tutorials and detailed row-by-row instructions.
You may sell whatever you make using this pattern, just make sure you reference The Chesapeake Needle as the pattern author in the listing.
