An amazing authentic Batik Keris crinkley fabric of Viscose Rayon measuring 3 yards x 42-44" wide. This fabric is hand dyed in a soft and muted rose shade which is mottled and of various intensities. The plant motif was created using a wax resist or blocked technique. They are ecru - light sand. I have matched the colors as close to the original as possible. The folks at Batik Keris confirmed that "Syantung" (as is seen on the original sticker) is the same as Viscose Rayon (a cellulose fiber). This fabric is tightly crinkled -- very much like a silk crepon -- heavier than silk and somewhat of an open weave. Zoom in to see the weave in the close up photos.
Very drapey and fluid -- this has a bottom weight and will tend to hang straight down. The width is 42-44" depending on if you pull or stretch the crinkles outward. It is a lovely, feminine romantic fabric that lends itself to both voluptuous dresses to show off curves, or ethnic sarong Hawaiian dresses. This fabric should be handwashed and laid flat to dry to preserve its beauty. It has been lovingly stored by a top dressmaker and is in excellent condition.
