This pair of vintage crochet pieces is probably from the late 1800s. The workmanship is excellent, but as was the case in many instances, women of the time had to “make do” with what they had. Thus, when these two ends to a runner or scarf became damaged in some small way, the problem was remedied by mending, rather than discarding! A couple of the photos attempt to show the hand mends used on the beautiful crochet.
They are off-white in color, and each of these pieces measures (from solid area down) 6-1/4 inches. Each piece is 17” wide. There are probably many uses for these fine, old pieces of handwork history!
