Never hang knits, always store them flat.
Best way to hand wash your knit items is to soak them in a mild shampoo or wool wash (use only about 1 tsp's worth) with cool water. Do not rub, twist or agitate, just submerge in water & let it soak for 15-30 minutes. Remove excess water by squeezing and pressing with a dry towel & gently reshape and lay flat to dry.
