More details: Okra is a relative of hibiscus, so the flowers look similar. If you need a plant that can survive the hot (and humid) climate of the South- then this plant is for you! Red okra taste the same as regular green okra. The pods are delicious when added to stir frys, fried or even pickled! Harvest when pods are 4" long and under. Any longer and the pods will become fibrous and not as pleasurable to eat. If pods do get large, dry them out and use them in dried floral arrangements.
