This listing is for a vintage Madame Weigel's c. 1960 sewing pattern for an artist's smock.
It is a beautifully illustrated pattern.
The pattern is a size 14 (breast measurement 33 inches) and is in very good condition. There are some small stains, a tiny tear and some creases on the bottom edge of the envelope but it is intact (although it has no flap). The 4 pattern pieces are all present in pre-cut form - it appears that they have never been used. They are unprinted but have perforations and notches to identify the pieces. In a couple of the pattern pieces some notches have tiny tears at their point. The instruction sheet has some yellowish spotting, but is otherwise in good condition.
Madame Weigel established an Australian paper sewing pattern empire in Australia in the late 1800's, with patterns printed in the Melbourne suburb of Richmond. The patterns were still being made into the 1960's. A wonderful reminder of Australia's fashion history.
