A large French advertisement printed in full colour dating from 1889 for cotton bobbins " Bobine Perlee - Coeur de Lin" It has the old armorial shield of Paris with armorial shields as flags draped underneath from various countries. Two top insert cameos show "La Bastille" and Place de la Bastille with the Colonne de Juillet 1830-1848. The centre is dominated by the advert for the cotton, which is superimposed on the background of an aerial view of Paris, featuring the Eiffel Tower, champ de mars, Sacre Coeur, a stam train, and other objects of culture. A Montgolfier balloon is in the sky. It measures 30.4 x 40.4 cms or 12 x 15 7/8 inches. Signed by G. Boteau and is printed on rigid carton. There is damage to the top left & right hand side of the picture where the ink has been abraded off. Generally in very reasonable condition. Nothing on reverse side.
