When I first started The Chesapeake Needle, I never expected such an outpouring of love and support from the maker community. I thought a great way to give back would be to release a free knitting pattern, designed in collaboration with Fairlight Fibers. I have to charge $1.00 on here to cover the listing/processing fees, but this pattern is available for FREE on Ravelry! Download here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/darcy-beanie
The Darcy Beanie is amazing because it looks great on both guys and girls! It is light enough to be worn year-round. Plus, it is such a fun and relaxing design. This pattern is great for beginners and uses a variety of different knitting techniques to help you master the basics. You will need to know how to knit, purl, *knit in the round, and decrease by *knitting 2 stitches together. *Check out my other knitting patterns for detailed photo tutorials on these techniques!
To create the Darcy beanie, you will need approximately 155 yards of a DK/light (3) to worsted (4) weight yarn. I highly recommend Blacker Tamar Lustre Blend DK from http://www.fairlightfibers.com. I used the color “Trevella.” You will also need 16" circular knitting needles in size 7.
