3 skeins of naturally dyed, avocado and eucalyptus, perle cotton thread size 8. Approx 25 metres in each skein.
These 3 skeins are very subtly different. The darkest ( although it's a medium brown) is a rich chestnut due to first dyeing the thread with eucalyptus bark. The other two threads have been dyed solely with avocado and are soft caramel browns, one is slightly lighter than the other.
Dyeing with avocadoes is a slow, patient process with the dye building intensity over a few days. I'm lucky to live in a place where there are avocadoes growing in abundance and I have a constant supply of them to dye with, and eat!
I collect eucalyptus bark from under the trees when it falls off naturally. My eucalyptus bark soaks for months in a large container on my roof where it builds up a rich dark colour over time.
I pay great care to finishing and rinsing to bring you a product which is colour fast when washed in a cool wash. I recommend cold hand washing, maybe up to 30 degrees.
I love using hand dyed threads and I hope you will enjoy them too.
