Needle felting needles in a variety of gauges. These fit our hand turned, multi-needle felting tools perfectly. If you're purchase a 4, 8, or 16 pack set, please indicate which gauge needles you'd like. Feel free to mix and match.
Gauge and use suggestions: • Felting needles have small notches(barbs) that catch up the strands of fiber, helping them to entangle and compact, thereby creating the felted fabric or shape. • Needles have different gauges & shapes for different projects. 19 gauge triangle – coarse, heavy fibers, outlining, joining felt to felt 32 gauge triangle – medium grade fibers, defining lines, joining felt, 9 barbs (3/edge) 36 gauge triangle – most popular, good for most types of work, outlining, shaping, 9 barbs (3/edge) 38 gauge triangle – fine fibers and detail work, firming, shaping, 6 barbs (2/edge) 40 gauge triangle – fine fibers, finer, lighter felting, details & finishing work, 6 barbs (2/edge) 42 gauge triangle – extra fine fibers & small wisps of wool, finishing, smoothing work, 3 barbs (1/edge) 20 gauge reverse – barbs face opposite directions, so it pulls fiber instead of pushing it, creates a pullback effect for animal hair, doll hair or fluff, 6 barbs (2/edge) 32 gauge reverse – same as above but finer gauge, 6 barbs (2/edge) 40 gauge reverse – finest reverse needle, 6 barbs (2/edge) 38 gauge star – this needle has 4 working sides for faster felting, 8 barbs (2/edge) 38 gauge crown – this needle only has barbs on the tip, mostly for doll making, creating hair, eyebrows, eyelashes, 3 barbs near tip 38 gauge spiral – pulls more wool for fast work and ultra dense felt, creates firm smooth felt, 6 barbs (2/edge) 40 gauge spiral – same as above but finer gauge
