Item details

This listing is for a real tanned bobcat pelt, complete with head, tail, and all four paws and claws. This is a large, dark-colored bobcat with distinct markings and lovely spotting on the belly. The pelt measures nearly 40 inches from tip of nose to tip of the hind paws!

This pelt was dorsal skinned (cut down the spine) and the incision on the back has been sewn closed with sturdy thread. This pelt could be used as-is or opened along the belly so it can lay flat. The dorsal seam is mostly not visible from the fur side but can be felt under the fur. This pelt has several small skinning cuts/holes that are not visible from the fur side and a couple larger ones that are visible from the fur side. It has had two minor sewing repairs to the legs. The leather is thin in some places and could be prone to tearing if handled roughly, but this pelt does not have dry rot and it is not falling apart.

Overall this is a very nice pelt for artistic reference, display, or educational purposes. The head and face on this pelt is nicely flexible with a natural shape to it and the ears stand up naturally.

This pelt is approximately 10 years old. I obtained it as part of a barter with another artist and have only handled it for artistic reference and study. It has been hung up in a cool, dry, insect-free place for storage and has not been handled except for on occasion. This pelt has no odor and comes from a nonsmoking home. This pelt comes with an original receipt including CITES tag information.

I obtain the antlers and bones I use in my artwork legally and ethically: I purchase deer antlers and animal bones through a variety of secondhand sources including flea markets, estate auctions, antique shops, and garage sales. I collect shed antlers and bones in the wild when and where it is legal to do so. I also get unwanted bones for free from ranchers, neighbors who hunt or trap, carcass disposal services, and taxidermists. I am happy to answer any questions you have about the origin of any bone or antler in my shop.

The vast majority of U. S. states allow people to buy and sell bones and antlers, but be aware that certain wild animal products cannot be purchased in every state. I therefore reserve the right to cancel any sale that isn't lawful. If you're not sure about your state's laws, you can learn more here: http://www.thegreenwolf.com/u-s-state-laws/

I use color management software for the most accurate reproductions of original art possible. However, most people do not perform color management on their devices. Thus, colors on actual items may vary slightly from what you see on your screen.
