Vintage Deadstock 1960’s Japanese Kimono Mock-Shibori Print Mock-Silk Fabric
I am offering a complete bolt, 43 continuous yards (found as a roll), of deadstock vintage Kimono Obi mock-silk fabric. This fabric is dated from the 1960’s -70’s. The graceful pattern features large water wheel designs - the pattern and motifs are woven not printed. The repeat is very even with no markings for either an Obi or Kimono. The fabric has a lovely hand and duplicates the look and feel of real woven silk. The design is beautiful; fabric has a woven traditional geometric background pattern (a shibori type background honeycomb design) surrounding the larger water wheel motifs. The pattern repeat is consistent every 35”. Background colors are coral, cream and green with water wheels in coral, soft pink, orange and green.
Recommended for any variety of sewn goods and sewn furnishings creative applications. Can be used for garments, cushions, floor cushions, table runners, bags, curtains and so on.
Pattern: Water Wheel motifs - honeycomb background
Date: 1960’s to early 70’s
Size: 14 1/2” width selvedge to selvedge x 43 yards + in length
Pattern Repeat: 35”
Materials: vintage blend, triacetate + rayon.

Markings: there are some nicks in the selvedge areas in 3 areas. One section of the fabric is frayed in the selvedge at the 22 yard mark. A couple of yards at the very end are damaged - I have left them on (see last picture) but not included them in the length count.
