Gold dipped silver tribal Yemen globe bead. These beads were popular in the early part of the 20th century in Yemen. They were produced by highly skilled Jewish craftsman often as wedding gifts. They are part of a dying art as gold has come to replace silver for many families and as most of the craftsmen exited the country to Israel before the middle part of the century. I acquired these rare beauties while living in Saudi Arabia in the 1990's. You will receive the bead pictured. It measures approx. 2" long (50.8 mm) by 1 3/4" wide (44.45 mm) and weighs 22 grams. The silver content is not known. Comes with a 28" length of red jewelry cord.
