This heavy linen fabric was made in India and retailed by Banaras House (established 9n 1961 and still in business on Connaught Circus in New Delhi). The slubby, irregular fabric is woven in yarn-dyed blue, tan and natural. Plain weave, medium weight (heavier than dress/shirt weight, but not quite as heavy as usual upholstery linen)--appropriate for clothing (maybe a skirt or jacket) or light-use upholstery projects like pillows or curtains. Beautiful quality, similar to heavy French linens.
The second image shows the full width from selvage to selvage and about 1 yard of length
Measures about 41 inches wide from selvage to selvage; about 4 1/3 yards long (4 meters).
Overall condition is very good, with no holes or tears. Slubs and tiny thread pulls throughout, as typical in this type of weave. Small paper tag has been stapled to one edge. Unused, the fabric feels like it still has the sizing in it--I have not washed this.
