Item details

These are traditional court robe buttons used during the Qing Dynasty. The court robe (shown in the 3rd image above) had 5 buttons - one at the throat, one at the shoulder, one under the arm and two down the side of the garment. Chinese robes did not have buttonholes. Instead, a strip of cloth through the shank was sown on the garment. A similar strip of cloth was sown in a loop on the opposite side. Closure was affected when the loop side was pushed over the button.

The buttons offered for sale are very similar to those in image 4. The buttons typically are made of brass or copper and will polish to a bright luster.

Each button is about 1/2" diameter (not including shank). Total weight of all buttons is 12.16g.

The buttons are offered for sale in "as is" condition and may have the dings and wear associated with old items.

I ship USPS Priority Mail flat rate. The buttons fit into a small flat rate box with plenty of room to spare. If multiple items are purchased, I will combine shipping.

Note:Buttons will polish up to a bright sheen.
