If you take a walk in the Kathmandu Valley, you will see these colorful fabrics everywere. The fabric is called Dhaka an comes in a wide variation of colours, patterns and sizes. Common to all Dhaka textiles are the characteristic geometric patterns, some of the patterns are used to signal social status and has not changed for centuries, while others are invented by the weaver who created the fabric. Dhaka is traditionally used for clothing, especially to make men's cap called topi, but also womens blouses, shawls and even full sets with trousers, blouse and vest. Dhaka is also suitable for making cushions, bags and all kinds of home furnishing.
