Indigo, Shibori, recycled cotton, hand-dyed, indigo blue fabric, patchwork, quilting, sewing, dark blue, tie-dye, stitch dye, Hira-nui, navy Hand dyed indigo Recycled cotton 50×52cm 19.5"×20.5" no. 097 & 098
This design has been dyed with synthetic indigo on up-cycled cotton sheeting. The curvy lines have been stitched on a single layer of fabric then gathered tightly to create the resist to the dye. This technique of a running stitch on a single layer of fabric is known as hira-nui shibori. How you combine these stitches makes the design. I prepare the stitching and dye in small batches. Each piece is unique. They have been washed but there may be some dye residue remaining and I recommend pre-washing if intending to use with light fabrics. The up-cycled cotton will have variations in the weave and suppleness. I have 2 pieces available, stitched and dyed together then cut into fat quarters.
