This wonderful old Aunt Martha's hot iron transfer is uncut and factory folded. This pattern features the characters from your favorite childhood nursery rhymes: Little Boy Blue, Little Miss Muffet, Jack Be Nimble, Mary and Her Lamb, Little Bo Peep, and Simple Simon. They are so cute. Check out the expression on Miss Muffet's face as she catches sight of the spider! And Little Boy Blue looks like he is really shakin' up farm wailing away on that horn!
From the envelope flap: Baby's favorite nursery rhymes for embroidery will inspire the happiest of baby dreams. What would be cuter than a set of bibs done in these motifs -- or the nursery curtains. These may be done in embroidery or applique or if you prefer, in textile paints.
The pattern is in great condition. The transfer itself is still factory folded and in its original envelope, which is in excellent condition with only a little curl in the corners. This is such an adorable design -- the crib quilt you make using these designs is destined to become a family heirloom.
For collector's of vintage Aunt Martha's transfers, the best way to get an approximate date of issue is by using the pattern number. According to Colonial Pattern Co., the owners of the Aunt Martha's brand, the pattern number on the envelope dates approximately as follows:
#9000s are the earliest, most likely first published in the 1930s and 1940s #3500 or smaller – 1950s and earlier #3500-#3600 – 1960s #3600-#3700 – 1970s #3700-#3800 – 1980s #3800-#3900 – 1990s #3900-current – Year 2000 and later
Be sure to check the address on the back of the envelope. Address with a 2-digit postal code date prior from 1943 to 1963. In 1963, the US Post Office began using the 5-digit Zip Code we all know and love!
