This rail is very stout and most of the visible welds are covered by an attractive cast steel cover. There is nothing to assemble! The rail is one solid piece weighing in at 18 pounds!
Installation: This couldn't be simpler. The rail mounts to the center of a step or right before a single step up. You will need a hammer drill and bit capable of drilling a 3/8 hole. We provide you with the concrete anchors you will need.
Not recommended for most brick or stone surfaces unless they are extremely secure.
Hardware: By default we ship these with concrete anchors. If you are installing onto wood please let us know.
In Ground Option: You now have the option of getting a straight post for mounting in the ground or in a core drill hole. Specifications are the same except the post runs about 57 inches and has no plate nor is there a need for hardware. The in ground single post should be embedded into plenty of concrete 80-120 lbs depending on soil conditions. Embed should be about 18 inches--so this won't work if the step is more than 9 inches above the ground.
Paint: You will need to finish paint with spray or brush on paint. Enamel or Latex paint is acceptable. Harder finishes are preferred to prevent scratches.
