Today's girls are active! They participate in cheerleading, swimming, dance and a variety of sports. Their dolls need clothing for all of these activities, too! Enter the Super Skort Plus pattern! Now available for 14" to 14.5" dolls such as the popular wellington boot girl and the Hearts for Hearts doll. In the Janie Carroll Designs tradition, I've simplified construction and detailing to bring you versatile garment pieces that are SEW EZY! (Super Skort garments may fit other dolls in similar sizes, with or without small alterations).
The pattern includes skorts, skirts, spanky panties and halter tank tops in a variety of styles and lengths. All garments require 1/4 yard (or less) of 60" wide knit fabric with at least 25% stretch. Skorts, skirts and spankies pull on with ease, requiring only waistline elastic. Halteriffic tanks pull on and fasten with a single snap or hook and loop tab at the back-neck.
What's different about this size range of the Super Skort pattern design?
The pattern includes 'standard fit' cutting lines as well as 'snug fit' alternate cutting lines. In this way, fit can be tailored to your specific doll, or adjusted easily for fabric with a slight difference in stretch or recovery. The lowest scoop neck has been eliminated as it did not suit the size of these dolls. Additionally, a TuTu skort variation has been swapped in to the Bonus Worksheet. You will love tutu skorts; SEW ezy and ridiculously cute! Read on for all the things you'll get in this pattern.
The basis of the Super Skort Plus pattern is my favorite skort, featuring attached 'spanky' panties in a trim, modern fit. Make the skort in two lengths, standard or 'micro mini'. Add a separate waistband or choose my innovative 'invisible' waistline. Leave off the spankies and make separate skirts, too!
Of course, that wasn't enough! There are instructions for making separate spanky panties, too! These make excellent swim suit or dance costume bottoms. Choose the standard 'hip hugger' waist or try the 'high waist' for a fresh look.
All these bottom choices needed a worthy top! How about my 'Halteriffic' tank? This adorable halter has a total of 3 neckline options and 3 garment lengths. Do the math and you come up with a gazilion possible combinations. (Okay, not a gazillion, but you get the point!) Choose high neckline and hip length, or standard neckline with midriff length, how about standard neckline with a cinched center front?
Make separates or sets, mix or match colors and trims.
Remember, you will need knit fabrics with at least 25% stretch, though swim type fabrics with 50% stretch are best for this size range. Fabrics with Spandex or Lycra fibers are preferable. Experienced sewists may select more advanced fabric choices such as jersey with a lace overlay, or cotton and Lycra jersey knits.
How 'bout that FREE bonus material? The multi page bonus worksheet includes information on using Heat Transfer Vinyl, tips on getting started with Hotfix Crystals and a *SPECIAL* worksheet on fashioning TUTU skorts. These are SEW cute and absolutely adorable! (please note, this bonus worksheet includes some duplicate information from the original standard 18" size of this pattern but the TUTU worksheet is NEW!
If you've got a cutter machine, such as a Cricut or Silhouette brand, I've included a FREE 'Sparkle' SVG cutting file! Download easily and embellish halteriffic tops for darling cheer or casual outfits.
Need some inspirational ideas to launch your own creative ideas? The included photo gallery with this pattern is six pages packed with fabric notes, sources, fitting details and trim ideas. ( photos shown above include some garments made by test team members)

As always, I do assume basic sewing skills but you'll receive detailed instructions with photos. This pattern is suitable for an intermediate sewist who is familiar with active wear knits. The construction methods are not complicated but you will be working in small spaces. Numerous tips are included throughout the pattern to ensure success.
This listing is for a sewing pattern, NOT an actual garment. Photos shown are samples only, and may depict a few accessories that are not included in the pattern. Likewise, some supporting garments shown utilize other Janie Carroll Designs patterns or refer you to a worksheet included in such a pattern. (Ie: pom poms and hair bows shown with 'Cheer Star' were made using instructions in the bonus worksheets included with the JCD Cheer 'n Play pattern.)

The 'Super Skort Plus' is an original design by Jane Wilkes of Janie Carroll Designs. A big thank you to the members of my pattern test team; in particular, Julie H, for her dance skirt idea.
