Hand forged, puukko-inspired knife with dangler sheath.
Forged distal taper gives this knife a nimble feel in hand.
The flat grind combined with a slight appleseed convexity at the edge provides excellent edge retention, allows easy maintenance with a strop and makes for a versatile tool for anything from kitchen work to light bushcraft (this is my personal favorite setup for green wood spooncarving).
It should be noted that this is a cutting tool and is tempered fairly hard for edge retention. This is not an impact or prying tool.
The blade is approximately 3 and 1/2" long by 0.7" wide at the base of the blade. It is hand-forged of 1084 high carbon steel.
The handle is just over 4" long, made from birdseye maple with a bolster of gemsbok horn. The hidden tang is fixed in place with high-strength epoxy.
The sheath is handcrafted from 8 oz. veg tan leather, hand-sewn with a double-needle or saddle stitch and wet-molded to the knife. The sheath is suspended from a handmade copper ring and a leather thong.
