QUILT, KALEIDOSCOPE AND DIAMOND FUN Tubular Strip Piecing: Pattern and Tutorial
Patterns for 5 Kaleidoscope Quilts, 8 Wall Quilts, 2 Bed Quilts, 6 Borders or Table Runners and any other patterns you can find using the techniques.
The tutorial includes patterns and quilt designs made with 60-degree bias tubes made in mirror image, then cross cut, shifted, and re-sewn while remaining in a tube. It is a combination of Seminole and Bargello with a twist and on Steroids. Variations are found, by the way the cross-cut strips are shifted and aligned, and the way the tube is cut apart after the pattern is made.
Many quilters talk about the bias as if it were a curse, put upon quilting. After spending the early part of my sewing years, making garments where the bias is used as an advantage, when I first began piecing there was no reason to believe it would be any different. There were no warnings about the bias and consequently it was never a problem. Consider the bias as your friend. Tubular Strip Piecing is the perfect technique for developing this friendship.
