These gorgeous Intaglios depict a horse and a rider and are in perfect condition having been stored unopened in their original paper wrapping up until now. They came as part of a larger lot of jewellery components that I purchased in London recently from a retired designer jeweller. They were manufactured in the 1940-50's in Western Germany.
They are glass cabochons containing intaglio images or scenes and were made in Western Germany C'1950's. Each piece was hand-painted into a reverse carved image. Because they are so intricate it would be difficult to manufacture them today as costs would be prohibitive. As a result, these crystals have become sought after rarities and historical treasures. They measures 18mm in diameter.
I do have quite a large stock of these and would be happy to sell a larger lot.
