This design is created by careful folding and then stitching to create a grid pattern. Awase ori-nui is a technique where the stitching is worked on a double fold. The pattern depends on the placement of the fold and lines of stitching.
I prepare the stitching and dye in small batches with synthetic indigo on up-cycled cotton sheeting.
Each piece is unique. It has been washed but there may be some dye residue remaining and I recommend pre-washing if intending to use with light fabrics.
The up-cycled cotton will have variations in the weave and suppleness.
I have 3 pieces available, stitched and dyed together then cut into fat quarters.
