The LT3H is a Lite Touch "Third Hand" tool for assisting with difficult to hold jobs while soldering jewellery, electronics or for holding items in place while they are being glued. A heat resistant silicon cap on the top allows you to handle the LT3H with less chance of getting burned after soldering. It comes with three tips, one is a stainless steel tip and the other two are titanium for those jobs that need to make sure the heat stays focused on the item and not getting sucked up by the holding device. The LT3H is a replacement tool for those heat sucking spring tweezers and third hands that dent and mar components. A brass collet holds the tip securely in place while the height adjustable bridge allows for a wide variety of jobs. The sliding weight can be added to give an extra 10 grams of pinning force if the job requires a bit more weight to hold.
The bridge is 7cm (2.75") wide by 9.5cm (3.75") tall by 2mm (3/16") thick. The brass collet is 38mm (1.5") long and 8mm (5/16") in diameter.
This tool came about through a need to solder custom made silver hooks to a silver dome for a jewellery piece I quite frequently make. It allowed me to easily adjust the hook at a slight angle and solder it to the dome with less fuss compared to a third hand tweezer setup. Now the LT3H (Lite Touch Third Hand) is my go to tool whenever I have a difficult delicate soldering job.
