This is one of the pieces of raw driftwood for sculpture I found on the beach near my home in the Pacific Northwest. It has been sitting on a shelf for a number of years with other pieces of driftwood that the surf and sand carved into art.
This raw driftwood is 5.5 by 2.75 by 1.5 inches and weighs 2.5 ounces. My only alteration was to brush off the sand. It is a good piece, with its protruding knot and soft smooth wood, to whittle or carve into something special. You can add a coat of varnish to preserve the wood and highlight the grain to make it look just like when the tide washed it up onto the beach.
The color you see on the screen may not be the exact color of the driftwood. Without a calibration tool, all screens are at least little bit off real color.
Whenever possible the driftwood pieces are shipped in recycled packing materials. This helps keep the costs down and our environment healthy.
