For your consideration is this gorgeous 1930s Bakelite cloak/cape clasp. It has a metal loop on the back of each Bakelite piece to attach onto a cloak, cape, coat, stole &/or belt as a OOAK closure/fastener, but it could also be easily transformed & repurposed (I’ve worn it in my hair & as a pendant). The silver metal closure has two hooks - one is slightly closed while the other remains open so that you can hook and unhook it, and an etched center bar connector with 2 jump-rings. The two, shaped Bakelite ends are deeply set with a raised floral, metal medallion. Very glamorous and unique!
This rare piece is in fabulous, fully functional condition with only a couple minor mentions to note. The metal jump-rings show light wear; one hook has a scratch; and each Bakelite end has a very tiny chip along the ‘BACK’ edge (NOT seen from the front). The Bakelite pieces are near perfect…gorgeous & glossy, unscratched & without cracks, and their 1” x 3mm silver metal embellishments are shiny, bright, and untarnished. Stunning!
