If like me you love the look of hand stitched hexagon cushions but don't have the time or patience to make them then this pattern is perfect for you.
After spending hours making hexagons on card templates and stitching them together one-by-one I decided to create a sewing pattern for a much simpler method. The design is suitable for confident beginners or improvers. Even if you haven't made a cushion cover before I will show you how.
There are lots of simple step-by-step instructions and many close up photographs to show you clearly how to create your pattern, make the hexagons and create a beautiful statement cushion.
I have included instructions and measurements for two sizes of cover, small 30cm and large 40cm (12 & 16 inches). The instructions are written in both centimeters and inches so whichever you are familiar with you won't need to do any converting.
The cushion itself is made from two very simple pattern pieces, a square and a rectangle so they are very easy to measure and draw pattern pieces for. The hexagon shape is a printable template. The back of the cover has a simple envelope closure so there are no difficult zips to fix in place.
Materials needed to make one small cushion:
½m (yard)of dark cotton fabric Approximately 18 small pieces of cotton fabric no smaller than 10cm (4”) square for the hexagons Bondaweb 35cm(14”) square Matching thread
You will also need some basic sewing equipment such as scissors, pen, tape measure, pins, iron and ruler.
I have lots of other sewing patterns in my etsy shop so please take a look, most are suitable for beginners. If you have any questions about this pattern please do not hesitate to message me. Helen
