A larger sized fairy door for those with a bit more room to play! Our opening three-dimensional self-assembly wooden Fleur de Lys fairy door kit comprises:
A composite door frame with working peg hinges and graceful Fleur de Lys detail; A simple fairy door with heart-shaped peephole window and keyhole; A Fleur de Lys detail Keyplate with Handle; Fleur de Lys 3D 'hinge' detail; A separate fairy window with matching 'Fleur de Lys' detail shutters, which fit snugly together when closed across the window. The door opens fully and has an open back-plate so that you can use your imagination to decorate the area behind it. This makes it really feel like peeping into fairyland when you open the door!
The door is 240mm (9.5 ins) tall by 215mm (8.3 ins) wide at its widest point - this is twice as big as our standard fairy doors. You can get an idea of the different door sizes we produce by having a look at the diagram included in the photographs with this listing.
Door kits are for self-assembly, come with simple assembly instructions and are supplied flat-packed as separate components so that you can paint and fix as you like (or leave bare for the rustic look). We recommend glue or blue-tak for fixing. Please note, some accessories are designed to fit outside the door outline.
Our doors are suitable for indoor use and can be used outdoors too, once they have been sealed with an appropriate top coat or varnish. Your door can be fixed onto stairs, skirtings, door frames, walls, trees - suitable locations are limited only by your imagination!
Our fairy doors are handmade in our workshop in the enchanting Welsh hills, so we have plenty of magical inspiration. The burn marks you can see around the edges are caused by the cutting process, as we use a laser (powered by dragons, of course) to craft your fairy doors. We think the burn adds to the authentic rustic woodland look but you can remove it by lightly sanding if you prefer. It will also disappear when painted. You may notice a light ‘woodsmoke’ smell from your doors – this is a harmless and natural byproduct of the manufacturing process and will diminish as the door airs.
