Simplicity 5946 from 1973 sewing pattern for Men's two-piece pajama suit, size medium (Chest 38-40). The top can be made with short or long sleeves and with a shirt-type collar or a v-neck; it features a front button closing (which, as you see from the envelope illustration, can be left rakishly unbuttoned), patch pockets, set-in sleeves, and top stitching. The pants, which can also be made short or long, have a front fly opening with a button and a drawstring waist with casing.
Pajamas (and sewing patterns) were made to be more tailored and form-fitting, as you can tell by the set-in sleeves; modern pajama patterns tend to have drop shoulders.
Suitable for broadcloth, lawn, chambray, gingham, seersucker, sateen, or "flannelette." Any lightweight woven fabric would work well for this. Suitable for plaid and checks and even obvious diagonals.
This original 1973 pattern is uncut and factory folded. The envelope is missing its flap and has a tear in the front, but the pattern is clean and pristine. It comes to you in an archival acid-free clear sleeve for protected storage.
