Item details

The Fleur de Lis began as a motif for the Kings of France (and no , there have been no solo queens like England ) as a symbol of strength in unity ( which is ironic because France has not been very unified throughout its history ). It was used by the french royals starting in the 12th century . In medieval France , the emblem was awarded to dedicated defenders of the crown . This symbol is so ancient , it has been seen in Egyptian , Greek , and Roman art , usually to symbolize warrior strength ; so it is no wonder why the French monarchy adopted this image on their heraldry . Joan of Arc was even seen carrying this symbol into battle with her .

The fleur de lis was also a symbol of the city of Florence . Though the city's emblem has the additon of two stamen , you can definitely see the connection of their most famous family (the Medici ' s ) and France ( Catherine de Medici being an (in)famous Queen of France ).

Oh man , I can go on and on about the Fleur de Lis , but I shall cut myself off now . If you need more documentation , or documentation for anything more specific concerning the Fleur de Lis , make sure to check out the variation " with documentation ". With that order I will send you more information about the Fleur symbol and can even tailor it to focus on what you are hoping to use it for!

These buttons come in a set of 3 and measure 9/16" in diameter ( Ligne 22 or 14.2 mm ).

FAQs

I do not currently have wholesale products, as most of the pieces I sell are unique and one-of-a-kind. The quantity of items posted are all I have in my inventory. I try to cater to those who work on a smaller, individual project scale. My customers are typically looking for that one button or that one pattern to complete their costume. My products are all backed with research and documentation as to their historicity, so customers can decide which item might be best suited for their historical project.
