This large rutilated quartz teardrop or pear cut cabochons measure approximately 33.2 x 22.0 x 5.2 mm, and has a weight of 27.88 carats. The gemstone has been given a mirror polish on the front and back, and slightly inward-slanting sides.

This is a beautiful gem, featuring gleaming, individual rutile crystals as well as multiple rutile star formations which consist of red-gold needles of rutile, each radiating from angular, dark metallic hubs dispersed throughout the water clear quartz.

The quartz is very clean and clear, having only very minor interior inclusions, aside from the rutile formations, and no surface flaws or fractures.

The cabochon was cut from rough originating from Brazil. It is shown from the front and back. The back of the cabs correspond to the 'tails' side of the coin facing up.
