This warm, soft cardigan is knit seamlessly with minimal finishing for the maker. The body is worked flat in one piece, raglan sleeve shaping happening as you go, with stitches held on waste yarn to be worked for the sleeves. The sleeves are then worked in the round (I prefer the magic loop method with circular needles!). The lacy braid pattern, which reminds me of a braided river, is worked over repeats of 12 rows and adds a delicate touch. It looks far more complicated than it is! Instructions for an assortment of hem and cuff styles are provided.
This pattern contains instructions for eight sizes, using between approximately 3 and 7 balls of 8ply/DK Superfine Merino (I prefer Cleckheaton Australian Superfine Merino, but any 8ply/DK can be used, provided gauge is 22sts and 30rows to 10cm). You'll need 4mm (6US) circular needles (as well as DPNs if you prefer working in the round with them). Finished sizing: Newborn (Chest 42cm, Length 26cm) 0-3 months (Chest 44cm, Length 28cm) 3-6 months (Chest 47cm, Length 30cm) 6-12 months (Chest 51cm, Length 32cm) 12-18 months (Chest 56cm, Length 36cm) 18-24 months (Chest 60cm, Length 38cm) 2/3 years (Chest 65cm, Length 42cm) 4/5 years (Chest 69cm, Length 46cm)
