This is a wool pincushion in the shape of a pear that has been entirely hand-sewn. It has been weighted with ground walnut shells that will allow it to stand where you place it, within easy reach for all your sewing projects. The wool has come from recycled sweaters and even a jacket in this case.
The background is made up of 3 different shades and patterns of brown. It has been livened up with little blue mushrooms. It stands approximately 7 1/2 inches tall and is approximately 14 inches in circumference around the widest part.
I scour all the thrift stores in my area for different shades and colors of wool sweaters. Amazingly there are quite a few to be had in the heat of Texas. They are washed and felted and then the fun begins. There are so many different designs that can be used although I usually find myself drawn to florals. I hope this is something that you will find useful as well as decorative.
