This listing is for the download of a PDF sewing pattern to make a girl's western show vest in Girls Sizes 2-16 (see sizing chart above). It is NOT for a physical paper pattern. The vest is unlined with a deep scoop neckline and is narrow at the shoulder seams. It is hip length with a zippered front, princess seams, and a close fit.
The photos are of vests made by SuitAbility customer Joyce Parr using a previous version of this pattern (see below) and are not for sale. The shirts worn with Joyce's vests are not part of the pattern.
The PDF file includes instructions illustrated with diagrams and the vest pattern pieces. The sizes are nested. Download the file using Adobe Reader and print out the pages on 8 1/2" by 11" or A4 paper.
DO NOT FOLLOW READY-TO-WEAR SIZING! Use the measurement charts above to choose a size. More fitting information is given in the pattern instructions.
FABRICS AND NOTIONS
Any sturdy woven fabric can be used- consider home decorating fabrics which are available in many different prints. If using a medium weight fabric, we recommend applying fusible interfacing to the facing pieces and also 1” wide strips on the center fronts. Use a lighter weight one-way separating zipper. The zipper pull is visible, so choose the color of the zipper to be a design accent. If you can’t find the exact length in the color you want, buy a longer zipper.
Fabric yardages are given above. Also needed:
One-way separating zipper- Sizes 2-6: 10", Sizes 8-10: 12", Sizes 12-16: 14"; thread; optional double-sided sew-through basting tape to apply zipper; optional fusible interfacing for facings and center front edges- if 22” wide, 3/4 YD.
PLEASE NOTE: This PDF pattern is the same vest as the scoop neck version in the SuitAbility paper version Pattern 4370.
