Antique Western leather bridle with beautiful tooling and two old conchos. This bridle is beyond it's lifespan as a working piece of tack, but the cheekpieces and forelock band could be beautifully repurposed. The leather is a nice cocoa brown and in very good condition, though there are plenty of scratches and other signs of use. I am including all the parts here, including the shank bit.
This is a new venture for me here in bonfires at Etsy. My husband and I have recently purchased a horse (my first after many years) and have started attending farm auctions with antique horse tack. Here in the Midwest, these old farm estates had many horses on the property used for preparing and planting the fields. As these farms have dwindled, the piles of old harness, bridles, saddles, and ties often hang unused in dusty barns, or in a pile on the musty floor for years. Thus, what I find is sometimes in very rough condition.
I put a lot of time and effort into sorting, cleaning and conditioning these straps, most of which haven't been touched for years. They make perfect post-industrial, rustic accents, ties, and some would be appropriate for making into jewelry or accessories such as belts. If you are looking for a certain length or thickness don't hesitate to ask, as I just might have what you're looking for.
