Packet of 25 Seed for growing native perennial Purple Coneflower
Echinacea purpurea has long been known to have incredible medicinal value but did you also know it attracts a very wide variety of pollinators like bees and butterflies? Easy to grow and establish, it will reward you with long season color. Coneflowers form wonderful "clumps" that never need staking. Leaving the brown seed heads on the flower after blooming will guarantee visits from many song birds who will feast on the seeds. Our favorite little yellow bird, the goldfinch is a regular visitor to our coneflower beds!

Native seed grows best when planted in the fall.
Fall planting: Scatter seed into a raked and prepared flower bed. Press seed into soil by walking over the area then water the area lightly but thoroughly. Seed sown in the fall will emerge in the Spring at the proper time for your region. If all seeds do not sprout the 1st season, be patient! They will likely sprout in the next growing season
Spring planting: place entire seed packet in refrigerator for 30 to 45 days before the last Spring frost in your area. After danger of frost has passed, scatter seed mix into a raked and prepared flower bed. Press seed into soil by walking over the area then water the area lightly but thoroughly. Most seed will emerge in several weeks, some seed may require a longer germination period. If all seeds do not sprout the 1st season, be patient! They will likely sprout in the next growing season
