This fetching cloche hat is now an exciting sewing project. I designed this cloche in the style of the 1920's. The brim folds up in the front, forming a whimsical point to one side. A set of pleats accents the back of the hat. It makes a lovely hat for little girls and adult women alike and provides full coverage for the hair line and a little shade for the face. The hat can be made in light summer fabrics or cozy cool-weather fabrics, with or without binding.

This PDF file is instantly downloadable and can be printed on 8.5"x11" letter sized paper or A4 paper. It contains cut-out pattern shapes for a full range of sizes, detailed illustrations of each step of the project, sewing tips, notions required, fabric recommendations, size measurement instructions, sewing terminology and coupons for your next Elsewhen purchase. The sewing and millinery techniques in this pattern will be useful for future sewing projects and your overall understanding of hat construction.

Intermediate - You must be familiar with your sewing machine and properties of different fabrics.

19"-25" measuring around the head above the ear (child to adult)

• 1 yard of fabric
• ¼ yard of lining fabric
• Matching thread (hat and trim colors)
• ¼” wide binding (optional)
• Kit for covered button (1”-1.5”)
• Scraps of trim fabric for buttons (match binding)
• ¼ yard of iron-on adhesive (optional)
• ¼ yard of cotton fabric (optional)

The key to choosing fabric for this hat is finding just the right thickness. Light/medium weight suiting fabric is ideal. Consider the pleats at the back of the hat and read the instructions for assembling these pleats before you choose your fabric. Fabric that is too thick will add too much bulk to these pleats. Because the buttons and pleats draw the eye to this hat, it is best to select a solid fabric, not one with stripes or busy patterns or textures. For covering the button, use matching or contrastive fabric as desired. If you opt for using binding on the hat, consider matching the buttons to the binding color.

When you buy more than one pattern at a time, enter "2PATTERNS" for two patterns or "3PATTERNS" for three patterns, to receive $3 off your second and third pattern. If you buy patterns one at a time receive the same discount on additional patterns using the coupons printed in your pattern.
