Item details

This is the most all original feed bag ever. I have collected feed sack fabric for years and never had one in this condition or even seen this other than in a book. it is in all original condition. Good to great condition at that. This has the original label that was found on every piece of feedsack made. The bag is still in tack too. No holes or tares. It does has a little bit of dirt but nothing that won't come out .
This is a pink and white print with a tiny touch of blue throughout. As seen it measures 24 x 36. When the bag is opened you then have the 38 width. it was the Big Rose brand feed. It was a 100lbs of dairy feed. Produced in Mocksville NC by Mocksville Flour Mills. A fantastic and fun find for the collector of these bags.

History:We would often trade feedsacks with other neighbors, or when we got feed, we’d try and get enough of the sacks alike … we made our everyday sheets. Mama used to call them our twenty-dollar sheets because feed was about five dollars a bag [it took four feed sacks to make a sheet]. – Esther Schrock, Glen Flora, speaking of the 1930s.
From the 1910s through the early 1940s, women commonly reused cloth bags, called feedsacks, that had once held feed or bulk dry goods like flour or sugar. Phyllis Berg of Hale explained “At one time, flour sacks were printed in patterns … they’d use flour sacks if they didn’t have enough money to buy [fabric] at the local store.” One feedsack would equal about a yard of fabric.
