This listing is for a set of seven stitch markers inspired by the book and tv series, Outlander.
There are two options for these sets: one with lobster clasps suitable for crocheting, and one with 10mm jump rings suitable for knitting (up to size 15 needles). They come with the option of no beads, or an assortment of white and grey beads that remind me of the standing stones, and of red-orange beads that remind me of amber.
Each set has seven charms that represent different parts of the book and tv series. I love the series in both incarnations and I am so excited to have season three starting up. The meanings behind these charms are:
* The book: it does represent how it is a great book series, but also how books enable Claire to find Jamie again, and because of his time as a printer. And THAT print shop scene, of course. * The sword: Jamie's sword is an extension of himself, and he uses it to protect and defend himself and others. * The dragonfly: the beads were chosen to represent amber, which creates the second book's title, Dragonfly in Amber. * The ship: they spend a LOT of time on various ships, with a lot of important scenes occurring on them, good and bad (turtle soup, anyone?). * The bee and honeycomb: the bees play a part in the later books, and the title of the ninth book refers to them. * The heart: this contains part of a poem by the Roman poet Catallus (it translates to "give me a thousand kisses") that is inscribed on the inside of her wedding ring, it is quoted between Jamie and Claire, and sets hearts aflutter all over the place. * The crest: Je suis prest is the Fraser motto ("I am ready" in French), and the stag features on the family crest.
These lightweight charms will help you keep track of your progress while being delightful to look at.
