Indigo dyed Shibori upcycled cotton sheeting, navy blue tie-dyed cotton fat-quarter for patchwork sewing, Ori-nui Shibori Japanese technique Hand dyed indigo Recycled cotton 50×52cm 19.5"×20.5" no. 101, 105 & 106
This design has been dyed with synthetic indigo on up-cycled cotton sheeting. The curvy lines have been stitched on a double layer or fold of fabric which is then gathered tightly to create the resist to the dye. This technique of a running stitch sewn close to a fold is known as ori-nui shibori. How you combine these stitches makes the design. I prepare the stitching and dye in small batches. Each piece is unique. They have been washed but there may be some dye residue remaining and I recommend pre-washing if intending to use with light fabrics. The up-cycled cotton will have variations in the weave and suppleness. I have 3 pieces available, stitched and dyed together then cut into fat quarters.
