Our best Hag rock Value!! If you are looking for a lot of hag rocks this is the deal for you! This is a huge collection of 68 hag rocks that we found along the shores of beautiful Lake Michigan. We could not even fit them all in one picture. So be sure to check out the first and second pictures to see the entire collection. The other pictures are just closeups. They range in size but many are all quite substantial and heavy. The smallest is about 1 and a half inches wide by 1 and 3/4 inches high. Most are significantly larger with the largest about 5 inches by 3 and 1/2 inches.
A hagstone ( sometimes called a holey stone) is created when water and other elements pound through a stone, eventually creating a hole at the weakest point on the stone’s surface – this is why hagstones are often found at the beach. They’re fairly hard to find, so if you are lucky enough to have more than one, take advantage of the opportunity.
They can be used for a variety of projects. We spend hours on the shores of beautiful Lake Michigan searching for these hagstones. The rocks you see in the pictures are the exact rocks you will receive. We do not use any chemicals on them. We just dust off the sand and send them on their way!
In some cultures, particularly in older traditions of folk magic, you may see references to something called a hagstone or holey stone. They may also be called adder stones. In folk magic traditions, the hagstone had a variety of purposes and uses…..especially healing and protection. They were thought to absorb disease, assist in healing and maintain health. They were considered a form of protection when someone would wear them around their neck. That’s why it’s still not uncommon to see people wearing a hagstone on a cord around their neck.
They were often used as protection by hanging them on a front door or bedpost to prevent nightmares. So nowadays they are often tied to anything you want to have protected - your boat, your car, your house or even your cow. It’s believed that tying multiple hagstones together has a great magical boost.
Legend says some cultures believed that if you held a hagstone up to your eye and looked through it, you could see things you could not normally see.
