Hand-dyed indigo Make-age Shibori up-cycled damask cotton large napkin, tie-dyed for table use or patchwork, stitched and bound fabric Hand dyed indigo Recycled cotton 59×59cm 23"x23" no. 117
A beautiful large damask napkin. It has a circular damask pattern. The circumference of the circles has been stitched around then gathered tightly and the interior of the circle has been tightly bound to exclude the dye. This technique is known as maki-age shibori. The napkin has then been dyed in synthetic indigo. I prepare the stitching and dye in small batches. Each piece is unique. It has been washed but there may be some dye residue remaining and I recommend pre-washing if intending to use with light fabrics.
The up-cycled cotton will have variations in the weave and suppleness. One napkin has a slight stain and a small darn - please see photo detail. The others are all in excellent condition. I have 4 matching napkins available, stitched and dyed together - use as napkins or in patchwork - your choice.
