2 skeins of perle cotton thread size 12 hand dyed with indigo. Approximately 30 metres in each skein.
Two lovely skeins of indigo dyed thread. One skein is a medium blue with ocasional lighter tones. The other skein is a light grey blue. It was first dyed a very pale lilac with logwood. This has given it a slightly different hue to the usual indigo.
As very often when I photograph indigo threads these threads seem brighter than they are in reality, at least on my monitor and camera. They're a soft blue rather than a bright blue.
Dyeing with indigo is a magical process, watching the thread changing from green to blue as it comes out of the vat and into the air is always a thrill.
I'm lucky to live on the coast of southern Spain on what is called La Costa Tropical. Autumn is mango time and I use the over ripe fruit to make my indigo vat. I'm still amazed by the fact that I live somewhere that grows mangos and that we have so many that we end up with over ripe ones!
I pay great care to finishing and rinsing to bring you a product which is colour fast when washed at 30 degrees.
I love using hand dyed threads and I hope you will enjoy them too.
