Blog Post:

This item is knitted flat, working UP through the different stitch patterns and colours, then seamed.
It may be worn in a variety of ways, as may be seen in the accompanying photos.
It is able to be wound two or three times around the neck.

I would class this as a pattern for the INTERMEDIATE KNITTER.
This is a great pattern for practising different stitches, whilst keeping the knitting interesting at the same time.

There are 6 different stitch patterns and there is also a (knitted in) edging at each side, comprised of a simple repeating stitch in every row.

The stitches should change with the colours and I have made them work thus for me.
PLEASE NOTE: There is no absolute guarantee the colour changes will work for you as they have worked for me however, and there are notes in the pattern to this effect.

This pattern is also very suitable for using up STASH YARN - either by:

a) Knitting single solid colours in order to create the same multi coloured effect.
If choosing to do so allow a minimum of 60m (66yds) per shade. And, if substituting the yarn in this way, use one with the same recommended tension as a Caron Cake - 18.5 sts and 24 rows to 10 cm (4”) on 5mm (USA 8) needles.

b) Knitting one solid colour, which I believe would be an attractive alternative option. (350m/383 yds total) again using a yarn with the same recommended tension as a Caron Cake - 18.5 sts and 24 rows to 10 cm (4”) on 5mm (USA 8) needles.

My patterns are designed to be user friendly in that I aim to keep the instructions as brief as possible, with a layout that is ‘easy on the eye’. I have extensive retail experience in yarn and pattern sales, and over the years have come across many patterns that I deem to be extremely difficult to interpret. It is therefore my aim with all my designs, to leave no room for doubt in the instructions.
