I created this charm with buff colored clay. I used a stamp, shaped the clay and then glazed the piece after the second firing. The bead is in a rustic brown matte glaze that feels like fine grit sandpaper.
Sankofa is an African word from the Akan tribe in Ghana. The literal translation of the word and the symbol is “it is not taboo to fetch what is at risk of being left behind.”
Breakdown of the word Sankofa : SAN (return), KO (go), FA (look, seek and take)
Description 27mm (1.06 inch) ceramic disc charm with a 2mm hole 3mm to 4mm thick Handmade in my studio Finished on the front and back
This light weight piece could be used in jewelry, sewing, and many other crafts. aA 2mm cord is too thick for this piece. Also an 7mm to 8mm jump ring works well with this charm.
If you would like more than one, I need at least 5 days to create these beads.
Different finish but just as beautiful as the glazed
