Item details

This is a wood block created from a piece of Tang Dynasty fabric. Artist Grav Weldon has extracted and extrapolated the image from the original source and created a laser-cut stamp of this motif for use in block printing. The block can be custom made to your dimensions, but can be no smaller than six inches and no larger than 10 inches in diameter.

The documentation:

Tang Dynasty (618-907A.D)
Reconstructed from three fragments, this item shows a pair of confronted birds in a pearl roundel. The tails ofthe birds are curled up into a scroll. From the remaining images, the subordinate decorative element seems be a symmetrical floral motif in a cross.Judging from similar examples unearthed from Dulan, Qinghai, this textile is typical of the style of the Sogdians,a people fromcentral Asian.
